Cindy Matyi Memorial Céilí Dance
This céilí is presented jointly by the Riley School of Irish Music and the Irish Heritage Center
in honor of our dear friend Cindy Matyi.
The céilí is funded in part by Cindy's family and the Little Town Foundation, which Cindy began.
Cindy was the Riley School's first singing, flute and whistle teacher.
She mentored and supported students of all ages, and continues to inspire us with her
beautiful and intricate artwork, some of which will be on display during the céilí.

Facebook Event

A céilí is a social gathering, which historically might include sharing stories, songs, and poems as well as dancing. In recent years the céilí has focused more on dancing, and specific céilí dances and styles of céilí dance have developed.
Our céilí will be led by a caller
- Allison Duvall of the
McTeggart Irish Dancers
- who will teach dances and help dancers keep track of what to do.
Most dances are performed in sets (like square dances) or lines (like contra dances) rather than individual partner dances.
The first hour from 4-5 PM will offer instruction for less experienced dancers; from 5-7 will be a more traditional dance.
We ask dancers to bring snacks to share.
Live music for dancing will be provided by the Riley School's own Céilí Band, led by Rick Boyce.
Doors open at 3:30 PM and dancing will start at 4 PM
